We had Sunday breakfast at the Black Angel and it was lovely. I had the cinnamon roll pancakes and they were absolutely amazingly delicious. My husband enjoyed his benediction and his beer. The atmosphere was wonderful all in all a good experience.

I don't review often, but I specifically downloaded Yelp again because of how good our experience was here today. Years ago, we had a local favorite spot called Banditos which unfortunately closed down, taking with it two of my favorite breakfast choices: El Guapo, and the Brown Sugar pancakes. Thankfully, they were both on the menu here again! The service was excellent! Our food came quickly and was nice and hot. They were very sweet to our kids as well. What particularly impressed me was when there was an issue with my food (not a big deal at all), the server profusely apologized and went to let the kitchen know. I was fine with that being the end of it, however, they went above and beyond! The manager, without being asked, took the whole plate off the bill and was apologetic himself on top of it! I do not remember the last time staff went so far out of their way to make it a good experience. For the amazing food, but even more for the amazing service, I would recommend anyone come here! You won't be disappointed.

Newish restaurant/pub that opened up somewhat taking the place of the Mill. I think there are similar owners, but there's several items from the Mill on display, including a stained glass sign from there. This place has its own unique charm though. No stage in back like the Mill, but still a nice quaint little place to grab drinks or food. They have a nice brunch menu as well, specializing in eggs benedicts, which is what I got. They have some beers on tap, and other various cocktails, some popular ones some unique house ones. There isn't a whole lot of space, maybe not great for groups, but if it's smaller then you should be fine, especially now that it's closer and outdoor seating might not be an option. They have a small parking lot with a few spots, or street parking isn't too hard nearby. I'd happily come check it out again next time I'm back in town.

Atmosphere food and service were top notch! I've been hearing good things and I was finally was able to try them out. The waitress was friendly and attentive. We were deep in conversation with friends most of the time there but enjoyed I ate one of the special items shrimp and grits- great flavor! My husband had some tacos. Can't wait to try some breakfast items.

The TACO'S here are my favorite in the whole corridor area. On Wednesday nights local musicians gather here for an open mic/jam session. If you have a talent you want to share, this is the place to be on Wednesday night.

What's not to love? Our first time stopping in for a weekday lunch. The menu was a little daunting, with the regular menu, breakfast menu, taco menu, but I get it, they're trying to offer variety and not clutter one menu. I had the Des Moines PoBoy, my wife had the Perez Family tacos. Both meals were very tasty, served up fast and fresh. The value was very good with the Ala Carte tacos being an exceptional value. Best of all, Ellie, our server was everything you'd want in a server, helpful, attentive and just made us feel welcomed, cared for and welcomed back. My only regret was not being hungry enough for dessert. We'll be back for that soon.

I want to keep this cozy place all to myself but I'll share so you can enjoy too! We got Smoked Brisket Po Boy⁣, Memphis Hot Chicken Po Boy⁣, Black Bean Burger⁣, and Green Chili Chicken Perez Family Tacos⁣. The food and the vibe are where it's at super cozy restaurant and bar with good feels, good service, and especially an all-star brisket po boy. Keep an eye out for their live music schedule, too! We loved it so much that we went back for brunch a week later and had no regrets.

Amazing food and ambiance, such an Iowa City staple and has a great vibe to it. The drinks were amazing as well. (Not pictured- but I got a Kentucky Peach Moscow Mule, WOW! & my husband got an Old Fashioned, very delicious). Heard great things about their breakfast- we will have to come back!
